Reading Zoos in the Age of the Anthropocene

Extinction & Conservation

This section is devoted to studies about the relationship between zoos, animal extinction, and conservation. It includes research about the zoo as a biopolitical construction that regulates different forms of life and the ways in which it makes animal death (in)visible. The studies also analyse the (self) presentation of zoos as important actors in animal conservation and their geo-political position in debates on global extinction and conservation efforts.
